Electricity as a Key for Our Irrigation

Electricity is one of the major drivers of irrigation.

Today groundwater-based irrigation supports twice the area irrigated by canals and tanks put together. While we endorse using rain-fed agriculture, reviving selective use of canals, it is important to realize that groundwater-based irrigation holds the key to food security in this country.

Therefore, we took our decision to build an electric line directly to our farm. We signed an agreement with Northern Electricity Distribution Company and the works are actively going on.

The progress of the work is very satisfying to us and shortly we will be able to connect our first pumps to the electric power and start pump water to our farm’s irrigation systems any time it will be needed.

The 4,000 kilowatts of electricity pulled to the sites (Okrakwajo Farms and Sekpe Farms) will not only ensure the safety and security of our team on the farms. It will also serve as a beacon of light for the locals as they move from one location to the other.

This phase of our project won’t be possible without the tireless contributions from our dedicated team, our amazing pool of donors and sponsors, and the locals of the communities we work in.

We will continuously share updates on our progress.
