First Harvesting of Our Soybean

It’s been a week since we started harvesting.

We started harvesting manually with about 30 casual females. From our assessments, we realized the first 16 acres had very dry beans, hence using a combined harvester would have led to a 60% loss of beans.

Consequently, we switched up to mechanized harvesting after we completed the first 16-acre. So far, we have harvested close to 50 acres in less than a week.

Currently, we have two 40 feet containers on site for storage, a weighing scale for sorting the beans into 50 kg and 100 kg bags respectively, tarpaulins for spreading out the beans to dry for a day or two. Also, we have acquired poly sacks for bagging the weighed beans. We have trucks on-site to transport the processed soybeans to the buyer. Finally, we have pulled 400 kilowatts of electricity on-site to allow for the team to work late into the night during this period without any incidents.

Due to the differences in planting dates, erratic weather, rainfall patterns as well as severe pests’ attacks at the early stages of production; we hope to complete harvesting and post-harvest practices in the next 30 days.

We are very excited about this project and very thankful to all our employees and sponsors who made this possible!
